Which other Brits could make it in the NRL?

It seems like I upset quite a few people with last week’s column so I’ll do my best to not hurt so many this time around.

So here it goes. I know a lot of people in the media and fans alike that are getting a little bit sick of the NRL coming to Super League and poaching our best players – well I find it as a compliment and think it will only benefit the game as a whole.

The likes of James Graham, Sam and George Burgess are ripping it up down under and next season Lee Mossop, Gareth Hock and Mike Cooper will be moving there, while there is constant speculation linking Man of Steel Sam Tomkins to the NRL.

What I want you to do is comment on who you think would make it in Australia – Sam Tomkins is exempt from this list because I think we all know he will be there one day.

Stefan Ratchford – Warrington Wolves
Now I know it is not certain what is Stefan’s best position but his kicking game and overall positional play in rugby league would see him as full time starter with any team in the NRL. Warrington have a real gem with this player and I see him as a key part of a England’s future more so than team-mate Richie Myler.

Tom Lineham – Hull FC
This kid has it all for me. He has strength, speed and a good knowledge of the game. He is a younger version of Ryan Hall and would rip it up in Australia and would not look out of place. I am not saying he should go there now but in a few years he should and will be an overall better player for the experience.

Liam Farrell – Wigan Warriors
It is hard actually seeing the Ginger Pearl ever leaving Wigan, I certainly cannot see him every playing against the Warriors in Super League. So the obvious move would be to the NRL and I could see him slotting into the gap that Ryan Hoffman would leave when he finally retires at Melbourne Storm.

Jonny Lomax – St Helens
Jonny Lomax has the world at his feet in my opinion. If he can shrug off the injury prone tag he seems to have collected over the years then he could move to any club he wanted. He is a bit like Ratchford in that we don’t know his best position but he would be an ideal full-back down under in the Ben Barba mould.

Alex Walmsley – St Helens
This kid has impressed me immensely in his brief stint in Super League. He has always looked dominant despite playing in a beaten pack for most of the season and now with the return of James Roby he may excel even more. He could go on to be a Sam Burgess style player in the NRL, one who scares his opponents and refuses to take a backward step.

These are just a few selections on who I think would make it in the NRL, let me know your selections.  You will no doubt disagree with my few choices and I have missed out a few obvious ones.
