Wheeler suffers injury blow

Warrington utility Gary Wheeler has suffered a suspected broken Achilles and could be out for the next five months.

Wheeler picked up the injury in the dramatic 31-30 win over Salford last night.

The 26-year old playmaker was forced from the field in the 44th minute.

Warrington coach Tony Smith is fearing the worst.

“We think Gary Wheeler has snapped his Achilles,” he said.

“That’s a five month lay-off. He’s had a bad run with injuries and we feel for the kid.”
