Wests Tigers secure services of forward pair

Drew Darbyshire

Wests Tigers have given contract extensions to forward duo Alex Twal and Luke Garner until the end of 2022.

Prop Twal, 23, has made 54 appearances for the Tigers since making his NRL debut for the club in 2017. He has also earned four caps for Lebanon.

Twal said: “This club gave me my debut and I’m really happy with where the club is going and what direction Michael Maguire [coach] has us going in.

“I’m still a long way away from the player I want to be in the NRL but I’m really happy with my progress. This club has helped me so much as a player and a person, and I’m really looking forward to where things go in the next few years.”

Back-rower Garner, 24, has played 20 first-grade games since making his Wests debut in 2018, scoring seven tries.

He added: “This is the club where I made my first-grade debut and where I’ve played for the last few years so I’m very excited to stay.

“We’re building something very nice here and it’s very exciting to see the development in our team. I’m focussed on working hard and pushing my team-mates and seeing where we can go in the next few years.”
