Westerman: We were dumb

Warrington forward Joe Westerman has described the Wolves’ performance against Huddersfield as “a bit dumb” but has denied there is concern about their recent form.

Warrington were outclassed 11-0 by the Giants at a soaked John Smith’s Stadium.

They couldn’t hold on to the ball and struggled to create in attack.

“The weather wasn’t the best but we just didn’t do what we had to,” Westerman told Love Rugby League.

“They kicked us to death. They played the conditions better than us. We were still a bit dumb in areas where we’ve been finishing tries.

“Today we were dumb, dropping balls and just not doing the things that you have to in those conditions really.”

The Huddersfield loss was Warrington’s third in four games, but they remain on top of the competition and Westerman isn’t fazed/

“No, no we’ll regroup and get going again,” the back-rower said.

“It’s still early doors yet and we still know what we can do. Obviously the league table doesn’t matter so it’s just about getting ready for next week.”

Warrington meet Widnes on Friday night, with the Vikings also on a losing run since they fell to the Wolves on Good Friday.

“That’s it, they’ve dropped off a little bit as well,” Westerman said.

“Time for us to get dusted down this week and get ready to go against Widnes.”
