West Wales player given six-match ban for gouging

Drew Darbyshire

West Wales forward Chris Davies has received a six-match suspension for gouging.

The 28-year-old was charged by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel over an incident in their 30-8 home defeat by amateur club Underbank Rangers in the Challenge Cup third round on February 16.

Davies denied the Grade E offence when he appeared in front of a disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday night but he was found guilty and given a six-match ban as well as a £75 fine.

Elsewhere, Barrow prop Carl Forster denied a Grade D offence of “other contrary behaviour” in the Raiders’ Cup win over London Skolars and he was found not guilty, so he won’t face a ban.
