Wellington Albert to miss most of season through injury

Keighley prop Wellington Albert is set to miss most of the season after suffering an ankle injury that requires surgery.

The 26-year-old suffered a fracture dislocation to his ankle in pre-season training and will undergo surgery.

Albert will be hoping to return before the end of the season, with the chance to represent Papua New Guinea at the World Cup this autumn.

A Keighley statement read: “Already established as a popular figure with both team-mates and staff, the club will support Wellington and his family throughout this difficult period.

“We wish Wellington a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
