Halifax left Featherstone with a 39-26 win on Thursday to keep up their impressive form and stay on course for a first-placed finish in the Championship. Shad Royston and Ben Black both crossed the try line twice.

The story of the weekend came on Friday at the Stobart Stadium Halton as Widnes lost 27-6 to high-flying new boys Barrow. Finch, Luisi, Young and Harrison were the try scorers for Barrow, who kept Widnes at bay for 76 minutes before conceding a late try to Stephen Bannister.

Friday also saw Gateshead overcome Doncaster 45-42 in an enthralling encounter. Mike Knowles scored 20 points for the Thunder.

Toulouse continued their dramatic improvement in form with a dominant win over Whitehaven in France, seeing off the Cumbrians 38-12. Constant Villegas scored two tries.

Also on Saturday, Oldham destroyed London Skolars in the capital 78-10, in the only Championship One action of the weekend. Thomas and James Coyle both helped themselves to braces of tries, as did Neil Roden and Andy Ballard, who ended the game with a points tally of 34.
