Wakefield have announced that James Webster will be the club’s new Assistant Coach working under new Head Coach Richard Agar.

Webster joins the Wildcats on a three-year deal after previously been at Hull FC where he worked closely with Agar as assistant coach for the last two seasons.

The 32-year-old Australian enjoyed a successful playing career as a scrum half at Parramatta Eels, Hull KR, Widnes and Hull FC before becoming Agar’s right hand man in 2010.

Commenting on the announcement, Webster said “I’m really excited about joining the Wildcats. I have had many discussions with Rich about the club and it is certainly something that he speaks very highly of.

“It is clear that there are many great structures in place for the next few years and there is a sense of the start of something new and exciting, a real clean slate.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my work with Rich and seeing the new systems put into place. I can’t wait to get started.”

Wildcats Chief Executive James Elston added, “We are delighted to welcome James to the club. Having worked with him at first hand for the past two years, Rich Agar speaks very highly of him and was keen to continue their partnership.

“James’ dedication to his work and commitment to the sport are two great assets that he brings with him to the role and I’m sure that as a team, himself and Rich will do a great job for the Wildcats over the next three years.”
