Jake Webster has agreed to a one-year contract extension to stay with Castleford for the 2017 season.

Webster only signed a contract for 2016 back in November. The 32-year old joined the Tigers back in 2013 from Hull KR.

Now in his fourth season with the Tigers, Webster has appeared in all nine games this year grabbing five tries in the process.

Before moving to England, Webster played for NRL side Gold Coast Titans during their inaugural season and before that for Melbourne Storm.

Webster has played multiple times for New Zealand during his career and was a part of the 2005 Tri-Nations winning team.

He recently became a British citizen and moved house from Hull to settle in Castleford.

“I’m feeling really good, It’s been a bit of a tedious few years for me with injuries, so I’m pretty proud of myself,” Webster said.

“I’m excited to be staying with the club and hopefully we can build on the start we’ve made this year.”

“Moving house to Castleford is probably the best thing I’ve done. It’s helped my body, to be able to rest up, and it’s brought me closer to the boys and to the club.”
