Wayne Bennett has signed New Zealand-born Connelly Lemuelu to his Dolphins side for the 2023 NRL season.

The back-rower or centre joins the club on a two-year deal from 2023.

Lemuelu, 23, made his debut in 2020 for North Queensland and has chalked up 20 matches, including one off the bench this season.

He joins the likes of Felise Kaufusi, Kenny Bromwich and Jesse Bromwich in the Dolphins’ pack so far.

Lemuelu becomes their second signing of the week, following the addition of Robert Jennings.

The Penrith Panthers winger will also link up with the NRL’s newest franchise from next season. He has made 65 appearances during his career so far fro Penrith, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Wests Tigers.

The Dolphins continue to search for their star man for the 2023 season. Head coach Bennett has previously stated his interest in back-rower David Fifita.

NRL’s newest side have also continuously chased Melbourne Storm star Cameron Munster.

Canterbury Bulldogs have signed talented youngster Jacob Kiraz on a two-year deal from 2023. The 20-year-old centre is currently on a train and trial contract. He made his NRL debut against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

Head coach Trent Barrett said: “Jacob has worked really hard since coming back this season and it was great to see him take his opportunity with both hands against the Broncos.

“He has a great attitude and a real desire to get the best out of himself and that has been on display in every game he has played for the club this season.

“He showed what he is capable of at NRL level and we now look forward to him continuing to develop over the next two seasons as part of our NRL squad.”
