Watts hails Taylor’s start to life at Hull FC

Hull FC prop Liam Watts is delighted with the way that the club’s new signing Scott Taylor has settled into preseason with the Airlie Birds.

Taylor, who was once a Hull KR player, returned to East Yorkshire from Wigan at the end of the 2015 season.

He had been playing his rugby on loan at Salford for much of his spell with the Warriors.

“He is a big fella is ‘Tag’ [Taylor]. He’s a good stone heavier than me but he carries it pretty well. He’s a big lad but very fit,” Watts told the Hull Daily Mail.

“In training he has been knocking the house down. It’s a fresh start for him here at Hull. We played together at Rovers but since then he had a good couple of years at Wigan and a solid season at Salford.

“He’s a funny kid is Tag but he knows when he needs to be serious. His performances over the last 12 to 18 months have shown his quality.

“Scott and Mickey Paea are two different types of players. Mickey was more explosive, but Tag is similar to me and is good ball in hand and a good carrier of the ball.

“It will be good to get linked up with him in the friendly games and see how we both go in the front row together. Hopefully we will keep that partnership up throughout next season.”
