Watson wants another strong Salford showing

Salford coach ian Watson says the Red Devils need another professional performance this weekend against London.

The match against the Broncos is a must-win as Salford aim to avoid relegation.

“It was good to get back to winning ways last weekend and score 70 points against Featherstone Rovers,” Watson told the Red Devils website.

“Rovers had the best defensive record in the Championship in the regular season, but it was great to see us put in such a professional performance and complete our sets as we did.

“We had really gone back to basics in the lead-up to it.

“A bit of our earlier confidence had gone and we had to calm things down and I think we managed that.

“We obviously conceded that try in pretty much the first minute which could have really unsettled us, but after that I don’t think they had a set for nearly twenty minutes and we scored four tries.

“There were a lot of really good performances and we now have to back it up on Saturday.

“We aren’t actively thinking about the many scenarios with the league table but obviously we are aware of them.

“London come here this weekend though as a very useful outfit that certainly seem to be going about things the right way these days.

“They are building a great youth set up and beginning to rep the rewards of that.

“We certainly aren’t expecting it to be simple on Saturday and we will have to be on your game to continue climbing up the table and make next week’s trip to Batley every bit more interesting.”

Watson thank the Salford fans for their support.

“Thanks for your support this season, you have been great and while other fans are quick to hand out stick for there not being tens of thousands of you out there, the loyalty and passion of you lot is never in question.”
