Promising hooker Luke Waterworth is the latest player to sign a new deal with Swinton Lions for the 2018 season.

Waterwroth was a stand-out for the Lions in 2017 after signing from Wigan Warriors ahead of this season, where he made his Super League debut.

The 21-year-old even picked up the Champagne Moment of the Season award at the club’s annual presentation night recently for his late try which sealed a victory over Super League side Huddersfield Giants in the Challenge Cup.

He played 26 games for Swinton in the 2017 campaign, scoring four tries.

And Lions head coach Stuart Littler is glad to have Waterworth as one of his hookers for next year.

He said: I’m delighted to be able to announce the re-signing of our hooker Luke Waterworth.

“Luke’s form was outstanding at the back end of last season and I am looking forward to him carrying that confidence into our pre-season programme.

“Luke is looking in great shape and I am expecting big things from him next year.”

And former England Academy star Waterworth admitted that he is already looking forward to next season.

He said: “I’m made up to sign for the 2018 season and I can’t wait to get started and rip in.

“I’ve loved playing for Swinton and it’s a massive honour to be part of this club.

“I’m sure we will kick on under Stuart and have a successful year.”
