Watch: Watson focused on growing Salford in new era

Salford coach Ian Watson says he is focused on delivering on-field success, despite all the changes happening around him at the club.

The Red Devils have moved under new ownership over the close season, and they will enter Super League with a new club logo that signifies a new community-led approach as they look to appeal further to the people of Salford.

All that has come at a bit of a cost to Watson, who has seen his recruitment restricted by budget, while he was also forced to sell star man Ben Murdoch-Masila, having already lost the retired Michael Dobson.

He said: “Time will tell. Everything we’ve done so far, the meetings we’ve had, they all really want to grow the club, so that’s going to be good for us.

“As a team, hopefully we can do that with our performances which interest more spectators and make people want to be part of it.

“Last season was a great experience for us, a lot of young guys got experience, and hopefully that makes us a lot stronger this year in our depth and quality.”
