Wakefield forward Danny Washbrook has signed a one-year contract extension.

Washbrook, 28, is currently in his third season with the Wildcats having joined from Hull in 2012.

He said: “I’ve really enjoyed it here.  If you speak to any of the boys that are here or those that have left, they’ll say it’s the best group of lads they’ve played with throughout their career and I’d have to agree with that.

Washbrook, who has made 74 Super League appearances for Wakefield, follows Scott Anderson, Daniel Smith, Reece Lyne and Nick Scruton in penning new deals, with Craig Hall, Mickael Simon and Matty Ashurst all set to join up with the squad in 2015.

Coach James Webster said: “The players and the staff are really happy that Washy has agreed a new deal.

“He plays 80 minutes in the middle and it’s important to have players like that in your squad, particularly as we’ll be running with quite a small squad next year.”
