Warrington win League Leader’s Shield

Warrington have won the League Leader’s Shield after posting a 23-6 victory at the KCOM Stadium.

Warrington will now face St Helens at home for a spot in the grand final, while Wigan will play Hull FC at the DW Stadium.

It was the second League Leader’s Shiedl the Wire have won in the past six years.

An under-strength Warrington missing Ben Currie, Jack Hughes, Chris Sandow and Kurt Gidley, took a 10-0 lead into the break thanks to tries to Tom Lineham and Kevin Penny.

Carlo Tuimawave scored Hull FC‘s ony try of the match, in the second half, before former Black and Whites winger Lineham hit back with his second score.

Declan Patton added five goals and a drop goal to wrap the game up in front of nearly 18,000 fans.
