Warrington duo Simon Grix and Matty Blythe have signed year-long extensions to their contracts to keep them at the club until November 2010.

Versatile Grix joined the club from Halifax in 2004 while Blythe is a graduate of the Wolves Scholarship scheme, after turning full time last season.

Wolves boss Tony Smith said: “We are delighted that Simon has committed to the Wolves for another year. There has been some general interest shown but he has chosen to show his commitment to us. We are delighted to reward his recent solid performances. I am sure the some of this best is yet to come and am looking forward to working with him in the future.

“Matty has proven himself to be a great home-grown talent having come through the club and we are delighted to be producing young players like him. He has shown in his recent performances that he is progressing well as a player. I have no doubt that he has a big future ahead of him. He is a shining example to other young players coming through the system.”

Grix has scored five tries in nine appearances this season, including two in Saturday’s 18-16 win at Hull FC. Blythe has made seven appearances in 2009.
