Young Warrington centre Ryan Shaw has joined Castleford on a month’s loan.

Shaw, 19, was part of the Warrington Under 20s team that reached the Valvoline Cup Grand Final last season, and has previously represented England at Under 18s level.

He featured for the Wolves in the Boxing Day friendly victory over Widnes, and now moves to the Probiz Coliseum to gain Super League experience ahead of the new season.

Tigers head coach Ian Millward said: “Ryan is a powerful young centre, who joins us initially for one month. He gets to train with us and we get to see if he is ready for Super League.

“He’s a talented player who Warrington have high hopes for; we’ll play him in pre-season and see from there.”

With Joe Arundel and new signing Josh Griffin the only recognised centres in the first team squad, Millward is actively searching for additional cover in the backline.
