Warrington 44-12 Leigh: Wolves get first win of the season

Warrington got their first win of the season as they comfortably beat Super League newcomers Leigh 44-12 at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Tom Lineham opened the scoring after 10 minutes before Toby King extended Warrington’s lead in the 22nd minute.

Steve Price’s side were in complete control in the first half and went into the half-time breaking 22-0 to the good thanks to further efforts from Jake Mamo and Gareth Widdop.

Toby King bagged a brace for Warrington

Ben Currie went over for Warrington shortly after the second half restart before Adam Sidlow scored Leigh’s first try of the afternoon.

King and Lineham then got their second tries as the game entered the final quarter to take the game out of reach for Leigh.

Widdop scored his second in the 74th minute before Ryan Brierley scored a consolation try for the Centurions late on. The Wolves finished comfortable 44-12 winners in St Helens.
