Wane wounded by Marshall injury blow

Wigan winger Liam Marshall is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering injury in the win at Catalans over the weekend.

Marshall, 22, went off inside the first 10 minutes of the Warriors’ 35-6 win with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament knee injury.

His replacement, Morgan Escare, went on to score two tries against his former club.

Coach Shaun Wane told the club’s official website: “Marshy has a suspected injury to his ACL. I’m absolutely wounded.

“I’m upset by this one, as he’s been fantastic, he’s been an ever present and hopefully we can get him something to show for that this year but unfortunately without him.

“We had some disruption when we lost Marshy, it always is when you lose a winger and you never really account for that but I thought the way we dealt with that was good.”

Marshall, who signed a new four-year deal earlier this season, has scored 17 tries in 23 appearances this term.
