Wane: Wigan fans understand

Wigan coach Shaun Wane says Warriors fans know the predicatment his team is in and is confident they will continue to back his side.

Wigan were smashed 62-0 by Wakefield on Sunday, their biggest loss in 11 years.

The Warriors were missing 11 players for that game and field two debutants.

Wane said he hasn’t reviewed the defeat.

“I’ve not reviewed the game, there’s no point,” he said.

“We won’t play with that lack of energy ever again.”

“It never entered my head to lay into them. What I said to the press I said to the players in the dressing room.”

“I was still disappointed with the nature of the defeat but I know what we have here.

“The Wigan fans understand the predicament we were in and I know they’ll get behind us on Friday.”

The Warriors take on Castleford, who are coming off victories against Widnes, Huddersfield and Leeds, this weekend.

“They played really well against Widnes,” Wande said.

“They’re a good workmanlike team.”

They’re quite a settled team who have been together for a few years now.”
