Wane wants Wigan response

Wigan coach Shaun Wane is looking forward to seeing a response from his players against London on Sunday.

The Warriors suffered a shock 37-36 defeat at the hands of Widnes last weekend, having rested a number of key players, including Sam Tomkins, Pat Richards and Thomas Leuluai.

Wane isn’t expected to make the same mistake again, and one of the youngsters who won’t be appearing for a second successive week is Matty Russell, who played for Leigh in their Championship defeat at Featherstone last night.

He told the club’s official website: “We will fix what happened last week and I now can’t until Sunday.I am looking for a response from my players, there is no two ways about that, we have spoke this week and in the chats we have nothing is left unsaid, we are all honest with each other and that is what I want, I want to make sure whoever is selected they perform at their best.

“The team have trained really well, the way they have trained they have really ripped into each other, it was a real physical session and it proved to me the players want to get out there and prove what a good team they really are.”

Wigan host a London side buoyed by their first win of the season last weekend, a 42-16 drubbing of Castleford.
