Wigan coach Shaun Wane hailed his team’s defence after they outclassed Leeds by 40-8 in Newcastle.
Wigan held the Rhinos to just two tries and scored seven of their own in day one of Magic Weekend.
“I thought we played well for 40 minutes,” Wane said.
“The 20 minutes of both halves we dug in, we were pretty ruthless. We started well, but we went away with what we did well. Overall, very happy with that performance.”
Wane said he knew Leeds would be a difficult opponent.
“There’s loads of spirit in Leeds, I knew they’d be tough,” he said.
“To keep them to eight points was a good defensive effort. Our defence was great.”
