Wigan coach Shaun Wane is delighted with the progress being made by young winger Dom Manfredi.

The 21-year-old scored a hat-trick in the Warriors’ 34-0 weekend win over Catalans Dragons, and his coach wants to see that kind of form repeated consistently.

“He’s a good player, a good kid, and I like him,” said Wane.

“It’s very impressive the way he goes about his business. I’m really impressed with what he’s done.

“But I want it consistently. At this club we ask a lot of questions.

“We want to make sure that the level of performance is always at its best, and that’s what I want from him.”

Wane wants as many players as possible to be competing for first-team places, in order to kee standards high.

“He’s just signed a new four-year contract, so I’m really pleased with him and what he’s done,” he said of Manfredi.

“He’s put a lot of pressure on Josh and all the wingers.

“That’s the way I like us to play, with our edges finishing good play off.

“But the platform was laid by the middles. I thought Tony Clubb and Lee Mossop and all of them were really impressive today.

“They gave us the platform to win the game.”
