Walmsley and Aizue hit with bans

Alex Walmsley will miss St Helens‘ play-off clash with Castleford on Friday, after being banned for one game and fined £300 by an independent tribunal.

Walmsley was originally charged with making a Grade C shoulder charge, but this was downgraded to a Grade B careless tackle, following submissions to the tribunal.

Dewsbury Rams forward Makali Aizue is the other player to have been banned by the tribunal this week.

He was found guilty of making a Grade C shoulder charge in Sunday’s Championship play-off fixture against Workington Town.

Aizue pleaded not guilty, and was also fined £50 by the tribunal, which took into consideration his excellent previous disciplinary record in handing down the sanction.

Meanwhile, Warrington prop Paul Wood has also been banned for one game, after submitting an Early Guilty Plea to Grade B striking on Wigan Warriors player Eddy Pettybourne.
