Brisbane maybe without Darren Lockyer for Friday’s must-win clash against Canberra, but his halfback partner Peter Wallace could be set for a surprise return.

Wallace had originall been ruled out of the clash with the Raiders at Suncorp Stadium, which the Broncos must win by 15 points to stand any chance of making the final eight.

A trip to see his specialist revealed that his shoulder injury will could not be damaged any more.

“If we weren’t a chance of making the finals, I wouldn’t be playing,” Wallace told AAP.

“The team comes first, that’s what it’s about.”

Wallace, who missed last year’s semi-final with Melbourne with an ankle injury was approached by coach Ivan Henjak about the possibility of turning out after Darren Lockyer was ruled out.

“I had my heart set on playing but it was looking pretty bleak on the weekend,” admitted Wallace.

“I was really sore last Saturday but once I got some movement back in it on Monday I was really desperate to help the boys out.”
