Walker nearing full fitness

Bradford back-rower Chev Walker has returned to first team training after undergoing minor knee surgery during the close season.

Walker, 31, signed a new one-year deal with the Bulls in June, and has spent the last month in rehabilitation.

He told the club’s official website: “I had a micro-fracture. I’d had a clear-out last year and to give myself a bit more longevity the micro-fracture was necessary.

“I had that done and it seems to have responded really well so, touch wood, I don’t have any flare-ups throughout the year.

“I do not know whether I will be involved in the Hull FC friendly, but my main aim is to make sure I am in good nick and ready to go come round one of Super League.”

Bradford’s opening Super League game of the season is against Castleford at Odsal on Sunday February 16.
