Walker commits to Broncos

London Broncos have confirmed that Alex Walker has inked a new one-year deal at the club.

The Scotland international full-back has made 13 appearances for the club this season, after coming through the Broncos’ youth ranks.

“I’m really happy to be staying on with the Broncos, it’s my home club and I love it here,” Walker told the Broncos’ official website.

“I came up through the scholarship and academy systems, so to make it in to the first team and be offered the opportunity to stay on longer is something I’m really proud of, and something I’ve worked really hard to earn.

“We’ve really come together as a side this year – we’ve worked hard, and that’s shown in the results – I’m excited to see what 2017 will hold for this team, and really happy to be a part of it.”

London coach Andrew Henderson feels that Walker has worked hard to develop and improve, and he expects him to reach new levels in the years to come.

“Alex has stepped up this season and continued his development with us,” he said.

“As a coach, I have seen huge improvements in his overall game from the start of the season until now.

“We have managed his game time through the Championship season and challenged him to improve areas of his game at training and during the time he spent on dual registration.

“He has taken that on board and worked really hard on making these improvements. As a result he has now started in all four of our Super 8s games, and hasn’t looked out of place. He is doing a really solid job and I’m happy with his contributions to the team.

“Alex will continue to put pressure on some of our more established players next season and add further strength in depth to an already strong back line. I am excited to see him improve further again next season and we’re very pleased that another London product has committed to the club.”
