Wakeman: We want to win

Huddersfield’s Shannon Wakeman says victory at Leeds on Thursday would be a massive boost to morale around the club.

The Giants haven’t won in the league for two months and were beaten in the Challenge Cup by Swinton last weekend, and Wakeman admits it’s been a frustrating experience for the players.

“You always want to win every game you go into,” he told the club’s official website. “We have had some tough games that we possibly could have won and we’re being competitive in the games, but that’s not good enough and we want to win.

“Right now we are a bit injury struck, but once we got some of the senior figures back it should help.

“It’s obviously frustrating, but we have got a lot of injuries so it makes it tough for all of us.

“I’m looking forward to playing against Leeds. It’s challenging for our squad because of what we’ve got available, but hopefully we can execute what we practise in training.

“We want everybody on board, so getting a win would be crucial for us.”
