Wakefield’s Belle Vue ground put on sale

Belle Vue, the home ground of the Wakefield Wildcats, has been put up for sale for £600,000.

Property consultancy Sanderson Weatherall is selling the stadium on behalf of the fixed charge receiver of the property.

The Wildcats agreed a new five-year lease on the stadium last year, following their victory over Bradford Bulls in the Million Pound Game.

“This is an excellent opportunity to acquire this well-known stadium with centuries of heritage,” Neil Bestwick, a partner in Sanderson Weatherall’s asset advisory and recovery team, told the Wakefield Express.

“There has been much speculation as to where the club would play its rugby in 2016 and beyond.

“We are pleased to have been able to agree revised lease terms on behalf of our client resulting in the club’s commitment to this venue going forward.”
