Wakefield Trinity’s home clash against York Knights on Saturday, August 29, will be shown live on BBC Two: with the kick-off time pushed back to 5.30pm.
The game comes in Round 25 of the Super League season, and is the next game from the competition which will be shown live on free-to-air television.
Sky Sports, Super League’s main broadcaster, show all seven games over the course of each round – but have ‘exclusive’ rights to choose two which they give full production to.
Five each round fall behind Sky’s red button, but their two main games each week are given comprehensive build-up, typically involving host Brian Carney, pundits and a pitchside reporter.
The BBC have a small allocation of picks each season as part of their rights deal, and whenever they lock in a game, Sky then aren’t allowed to have that as one of their ‘exclusive’/main matches in that respective round.
Accordingly, when Wakefield host York live on BBC Two, that match is guaranteed to be behind Sky’s red button simultaneously as opposed to on one of their mainstream channels e.g. Sky Sports Action/Main Event.

Currently sat third on the Super League ladder, Wakefield may well still be in the mix for a top two finish come their home clash against York, which comes just two weeks before the end of the regular season.
Trinity were involved in the play-offs last season, falling at the first hurdle in the eliminator stage away against Leigh Leopards having finished sixth.
Opponents on August 29, York are nearing the end of their first Super League season, and currently occupy tenth spot having exceeded the expectations of many in 2026.
The Knights received just £650,000 of central funding upon promotion alongside Toulouse Olympique, half the amount compared to the other 12 clubs in the top-flight.
York head coach Mark Applegarth, born and bred in Wakefield, played for and led Trinity as their boss.
