Wakefield have strengthened their squad with the signing of former Canterbury Bulldogs prop Jarrad Hickey.

Hickey, 25, comes in at 6ft 5″ and has signed a two-year contract with the Wildcats, subject to UK Border Agency approval and a successful visa application.

Wildcats Head Coach John Kear said: “We are delighted to welcome Jarrad to the Club. I think it was acknowledged that at the start of the season we were light on the forward pack, but with the recent addition of both Liam Higgins and Jarrad, I feel our forward pack is certainly a force to be reckoned with.”

The Sydney-born forward has made more than 75 appearances in the NRL during an eight year spell with the Bulldogs.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to playing here. I would like to thank the Club for giving me this great opportunity and I can’t wait to get out on the field and prove my worth to the Wildcats fans.”

Wildcats Chief Executive James Elston added: “It’s fantastic that Jarrad has joined the Club.

“He is an impressive, powerful player that will that will give us great experience for our younger guys and give us some size upfront . I am certain he will impress here at Wakefield and I look forward to his arrival.”
