Richard Agar has made Australian Dean Collis the first signing that will be joining him at Wakefield for the 2012 season.

The 25-year-old centre joined Wakefield from NRL outfit Cronulla Sharks, where he has been playing for the past two seasons. Prior to his spell with the Sharks, Dean spent six seasons at Wests Tigers, scoring 24 tries in the process.

Collis earned himself representative honours in 2007 when he was selected to play for the City Origin team.

Commenting on the signing, Wakefield CEO James Elston said “We are delighted with Richard’s capture of Dean for the next three years.

“He has been a regular feature in the NRL over the past eight years and this experience will provide a great boost to our side.

“Dean’s enthusiasm and determination to succeed in Super League is very clear and we can’t wait to see him in action out on the field for Wakefield.”

Collis added, “I’m really happy to have signed at Wakefield and be playing in Super League. I’m excited for the new challenge and I just can’t wait to get over there now.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of something new at the club and I hope I can prove myself to the club and its spectators.”
