Wakefield lose Sykes to injury

test

Wakefield’s Paul Sykes is set for a spell on the sideline after fracturing his fibula.

Sykes, 31, suffered the injury in an innocuous tackle on Widnes’ Gareth Hock during the Wildcats 24-14 win over the Vikings last night.

X-rays after the game confirmed that the stand-off had fractured the fibula in his left leg and that he will be out of action for around six weeks.

The former Bradford and London man could potentially return for what will be crucial West Yorkshire derbies against Huddersfield and Castleford, as Wakefield look to continue their surge towards the play-offs.
