Super League side Wakefield are the latest to launch their own web based television service.

Following several weeks of development the Wildcats are pleased announce that not only their own fans but fans from all round Rugby League now have the opportunity to catch up with happenings at the Hearwell Stadium and with the Wildcats in both colour and sound via their own computers.

The Wildcats TV service is available on www.wildcatsrl.tv and on it the West Yorkshire club will be offering regular up-dates with interviews featuring all the club’s Super League personnel, bulletins from the reserve and Academy teams and regular up-dates on happenings in Wakefield’s commercial, community, dance and education departments.

Francis Stephenson, the Wildcats’ General Manager, said: “The Wildcats TV web site will run in tandem with the club’s existing web site www.wakefieldwildcats.co.uk.

“We’ve long recognised that modern Rugby League fans like to hear and see what’s happening at clubs like Wakefield Wildcats and we believe that this new facility will give them a greater insight into what takes place at the Wildcats, not just at the Hearwell Stadium but throughout the district.

“And we also believe that by having this web site it will enable Wakefield Wildcats to communicate more easily with their fans and the Rugby League public, many of whom are broadband connected.

“This will have real advantages when it comes to sharing information about the team’s activities; developing partnerships with sponsors and commercial partners and expanding on activities and events that are important to the club and its fans.

“We think that this is a significant development for our club and believe we have taken a major step forward the club in terms of communication and development.”

The system has been developed in partnership with IT, Communications & Media company, The One Point of Hull, who are also partners with another engage Super League club, Hull FC, in a similar venture.

David Bushnell, Marketing Manager for The One Point, said: “We have been working with large sports organisations for more than two years now and Wakefield Wildcats are certainly a club looking to the future. It has been a pleasure to work with them as they have shown passion and excitement about the new online TV Channel since day one and we’re extremely proud to be launching it with them.”
