Wakefield dominate lacklustre Widnes

Scott Grix bagged a pair of tries as Wakefield swept Widnes aside in the opening match of Magic Weekend on Saturday.

Ben Jones-Bishop also crossed twice for Trinity, with Matty Ashurst and Reece Lyne weighing in with one each as the Yorkshire side dominated throughout.

Ryan Ince and Hep Cahill scored consolation tries for Widnes.

Rangi Chase had a low-key debut for the Vikings on his first start since joining from Castleford.

The result keeps the Vikings bottom of the Super League, while Wakefield remain comfortably positioned in the top half of the table.
