Wakefield Wildcats released a statement on Sunday evening confirming that Lopini Paea had left the club with immediate effect.

The 31-year-old did not play against Widnes at the weekend.

Wakefield are looking for a replacement for the Tongan international.

Trinity chairman Michael Carter said: “We wish Lopini all the best for his new challenge in Australia. We hope he and his family enjoyed their time at Trinity.

“We now have a half quota spot available and are looking to find a replacement in the near future.”
