Wakefield confirm Agar appointment

Wakefield have officially announced that Richard Agar has been appointed as the new Head Coach on a three-year deal.

Agar began his coaching career at Hull FC as assistant coach and after impressive spells under John Kear and Peter Sharp, earned himself the Head Coach role in 2008.

Whilst Richard was involved with Hull FC, the club sucessfully reached a Challenge Cup final and a Siper League Grand final.

Commenting on the announcement, Wakefield Chairman Andrew Glover stated “”I’m very happy with this great appointment. I know our fans have thought it was a foregone conclusion that Richard was going to be our coach, but that really isn’t the case.  We have interviewed many people and Richard has shone through as the best for the job.”

“We look forward to our fans getting behind Richard and his team and giving them the opportunity that we feel confident they can achieve. Richard has our full backing and we are all looking forward a strong future.”

Richard Agar commented, “I am really looking forward to the challenge of building a team and helping to build a club and see it progress.”

“Wakefield is a club with a very rich history and a very proud heritage and I’m extremely honoured to have been offered this position.”
