Wakefield bring in Josh Wood from Salford

Wakefield have confirmed the signing of hooker Josh Wood from Salford on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old made 47 appearances for the Red Devils after making his professional debut in 2015.

Wood said: “I feel like I’m ready to really kick on with my career now and I hope I can do that at Wakefield.

“When I’ve played against Wakefield in the past, it was always a tough game. As soon as I knew that they were interested, I thought it was a real good opportunity for me.”

Wakefield coach Chris Chester added: “He’s a tough player is Josh and a really nice kid.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him out there. He’s got some decent deception at dummy-half. He’s got a really good kicking game and for his size, he’s a real tough defender.”
