Wakefield 24-22 Bradford

James Gordon

Bradford failed to kick on from their win against Leeds as they fell to a 24-22 defeat at Wakefield.

The win completed an excellent double-win weekend for John Kear’s men, but they were made to hold on at the end, almost throwing away a 24-10 advantage.

Steve Menzies and Damien Blanch exchanged early tries, before Menzies and then Danny Brough adding further tries, with the home side edging it 12-10 courtesy of an extra conversion.

Ryan Atkins snatched a try against his former club on the stroke of half time to give Wakefield an 18-10 half time lead, and they stretched that to 24-10 on 51 minutes through a converted Steve Snitch try.

Tries from Michael Worrincy and Michael Platt set up a thrilling finale, but it wasn’t enough to get the Bulls the points.
