Wainwright set for Tigers ton

Castleford winger Michael Wainwright is set to make his 100th appearance for the Tigers against Crusaders on Sunday.

Wainwright, 29, joined the then-National League club from Batley in 2007, and helped Castleford earn instant promotion back to Super League.

The winger said: “The main aim on Sunday is to clinch what would be a very important win because having secured 8th place after the win over Wakefield, we want to keep it. We have been having a good run of form but Crusaders are a tough team to beat and they are one of the challengers for that play off place.

“I’m reasonably happy with my own form and it’s always good to get on the scoreboard, but so long as we score enough points to win, I’m not too bothered who gets the tries.

“I was aware that Sunday will be my 100th appearance for Cas and it is something of a milestone and I enjoy it at the Jungle. It would be nice to mark it with a win though, because that’s what is important.”

Wainwright notched his 10th try of the season against Wakefield last weekend.
