Viller’s excitement building at Rochdale

Rochdale Hornets assistant coach Jason Viller is relishing the chance to play against Super League opposition, as the club’s preseason friendlies draw ever nearer.

The Hornets are set to tangle with Salford, Oldham, Swinton and Coventry in preseason, and Viller thinks that all those clubs will provide good tests.

“We have just reviewed phase one of pre season and the lads have come so far,” he told his club’s official website.

“They have really put it in and we have a great team spirit building up, both amongst the players and the back room and office staff.

“Ultimately though we need to test ourselves on the field.

“We will look to give every squad member at least two games over preseason- some will play more but we only want 18 or 19 kitted up and playing so the games replicate the way we will play in the league.

“The first game is against Super League Salford and personally I’d love a great performance against them and of course the Law Cup is the one we really want.

“Swinton and Coventry are important as well as they are close to the season. We need to set a platform and standard early on.”
