Castleford Tigers have agreed a new two-year deal with their 24-year-old centre Gray Viane. The clubs current leading tryscorer, Viane joined the Tigers from Widnes following their return to Super League.

A former Australian Schoolboy representative, although born in New Zealand, Viane first moved to the UK with Saints in 2004 having played for NRL side Wests Tigers. He switched to Widnes part way through the 2005 season, scoring 13 tries for the Vikings in 20 appearances, a figure that he is looks set to surpass this year with the Tigers. Viane is a non-quota player.

Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "I'm very happy to have agreed a new deal with Gray, he hasn't really found a home over the last few years and moved around a bit, so this is a good deal for both of us. He has worked hard since he came to the club and I feel that his game has improved. He knows the way to the tryline and he gives me a bit more versatility being able to play in the threequarters and the back row."

Viane said: "I have really enjoyed my first year with the club and I'm over the moon to have signed this new deal. I'm excited about the future here and looking forward to a successful two years."
