Valencia Huracanes reveal first players for Featherstone test

Valencia Huracanes have began announcing their squad for their hotly-anticipated friendly against Championship side Featherstone on Saturday.

Mystery has surrounded much of the build-up for the game, after plans to hold it at the 26,000-capacity stadium in Levante had to be shelved when an agreement failed to be reached for Salford and St Helens to participate in a double header.

Instead, the stand-alone clash will take place at the Villajoyosa Stadium, in the wider Valencia region.

A competitive squad has been promised, and the first four players announced via the club’s Twitter account are all locals.

Centre Aitor Romero Diaz has played seven times for Spain and is a product of the Tigres Torrent club, and is joined by prop Ruben Romero Diaz.

Hooker Miquel Tomas Enrique played for Spain in their recent World Cup qualifier against Italy, and has played in the UK with Loughborough Students RL and GB Teachers.

Completing the initial quartet is second-rower Ruben Olivares Munoz, who started his rugby league career at Valencia Warriors.
