Vaeau cancels Celtic contract

Celtic Crusaders prop forward Ben Vaeau has cancelled his contract with the Bridgend-based club for family reasons just one week after his signing was announced.nnVaeau, 29, was one of nine new signings announced by the Crusaders but will have to stay in Australia for the time being.nnCrusaders coach John Dixon was sympathetic, adding that the club will find a quality replacement to fill the space left in the squad by Vaeau. nn“As a club we are disappointed but we understand and agree that family commitments come first,” he said. “There is a place open in our squad and it will be filled by a quality player. nn“As a player, [Vaeau] was excited about the opportunity offered to him, but in making his final decision based on his family’s priorities, this meant that remaining in Australia was best for him.”
