A company is planning to submit a bid for the United States to host the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

According to The New York Times, Moore Sports Interntational is putting together a bid for the World Cup to be held outside of Oceania and Europe for the first time.

Moore Sports International has previously taken Major League Baseball games to Australia. Under their bid, tournament games in 2021 would be played in eight to 10 NFL or Major Soccer League stadiums.

“The commercial power of the US market is very attractive,” Jason Moore told The New York Times.

“We’re going to a different well of water.”

“We see rugby league, in this country, appealing to fans of the NFL and college football who are hungry for contact and physicality in sports.”
