Wigan’s upcoming Super League fixture with Leigh in Round 20 has been selected for broadcast by Channel 4.

The tie will now be played on Saturday July 29 with a 1pm kick-off, having originally been scheduled for the Friday night at the DW Stadium with an 8pm kick-off.

The announcement follows Channel 4’s coverage at the Totally Wicked Stadium between St Helens and Salford, with Paul Wellens’ side fighting back from 12-0 behind to claim a 26-12 triumph on a milestone day for captain James Roby.

The 37-year-old veteran became the club’s all-time leading appearance holder with his 532nd in the Red V, overtaking Kel Coslett’s record that has stood since 1976.

He was welcomed onto the field by a guard of honour by both teams ahead of kick off, and played a solid 75 minutes until his first break on the bench.

Channel 4 coverage so far

Channel 4, fronted by presenter and comedian Adam Hills, has covered a total of five games so far in 2023, including the Round 12 clash between St Helens and Salford.

The free-to-air channel kicked-off their second year of coverage at Craven Park between Hull KR and Wigan in the opening round.
