Underdogs tag suits Hull KR nicely, admits Weller Hauraki

Hull KR co-captain Weller Hauraki believes his side will prove a lot of doubters wrong this season.

The Robins have endured a tough start to the 2020 campaign – having lost five from their first six matches before play was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But Hull KR coach Tony Smith made plenty of changes over the off-season, with 13 new players coming in and 12 players departing – and Hauraki believes they will come good.

He said: “Its the been the best (squad) we’ve had – even with me and Mose (Masoe) being out.

“We’ve always got younger boys that have Super League experience but haven’t had that chance to play a little bit longer so I think the young boys have a chance to prove themselves.

“There’s no better feeling than being the underdogs when you are going into a game, so I think we are going to let everyone write us off but when we go out on to the field every week the boys are going to give 110%.

“We just want to play well as a team and know that when we come off the field we can look each other in the eyes knowing we’ve given 110% effort.”
