Workington have signed Tyllar Mellor from Huddersfield, while Carl Forber has signed a contract extension with the club.

Mellor spent time at Town on loan from the Giants in 2018, where he impressed coach Leon Pryce.

On making his move to Derwent Park, Mellor said: ‘’I was delighted to sign for Town because I’ve enjoyed my experience at the back end of last season on my loan from Huddersfield Giants.

“Everyone from the directors of the club to the fans have been very supportive and welcoming which made it easy to fit in.

“The club has a great group of players that work hard for each other to the final whistle every week and a great coach in Leon Pryce which made it an obvious choice for me.

“I’m excited for this coming season and hope we can do something special for everyone associated with the club.’’

Forber, who has scored more than 1,500 points for Workington, has signed a new one-year contract.

On retaining Forber, Town’s director of rugby Les Ashe commented: “He is Town through and through and currently in his testimonial year for services to Workington Town and rugby league in general.

“He is a pleasure to deal with and wants to be part of where we want to take the club in the future.

“We look forward to having Carl, Caroline and his lovely family at the club in 2019.”
