Two-try Perry suffers injury blow

Josh Perry‘s double-try scoring show for St Helens on Monday came at a cost, with the Australian prop suffering a shoulder injury towards the end of the win over Castleford.

Perry, who was fined by police for running naked down a street in St Helens after going last season try less, bagged a brace of tries in the 48-18 victory, but then added to Nathan Brown’s injury woes late in the game.

His last try came back in July 2009, for Manly Sea Eagles in a 19-12 win over Canterbury Bulldogs.

Brown said: “We are not sure to the extent of it but the initial reports aren’t good.

“He got two nice tries. Hopefully it is not as bad as they are thinking at the moment.”

The former Huddersfield coach has seen his new side dogged with injuries since the start of the year, although they still sit fourth in the table.

He added: “I am sure it will turn around. Hopefully things will change and we can get some stability. You just feel for the players because they all want to play and do well.

“We are just in a phase where things aren’t falling our way in that area.”
